Coritiba was founded on October 12th, 1909. At that time, all the clubs had difficulties to survive. Coritiba’s history has victorious moments and the constant presence of fans who loves the institution.
There were state, national and international titles. The top of the conquests was in 1985, when Coritiba became Brazilian Champion. The club has total hegemony in it state and is one of the main brazilian sporting institutions.
Today the club follows a professional structure of management with a strategic established project, and inside the “Win Project”, looks for the administrative excellence, international recognition and conquers in field, acting mainly in three administrative points: strong soccer, categories of base and marketing.
1930-1939: Success in the local football scene. Won titles in odd years (1931, 1933, 1935 and 1939).
1940-1949: First Bi-campeonato (winning to titles in a row).
1950-1959: Football becomes professional. Club’s prestige has increased.
1960-1969: The rivalry between capital’s clubs is growing up. Coxa and Atlético professionalized football. In 1968, in the greatest state championship, Coxa set up a great team with awesome players (Kruger, Nilo) and won the final match, scoring in the last minute.
1970-1979: Win almost all championships played. This 70ies team is considered the Verdão “Dream Team”.
1980-1989: In 1985, the greatest conquest: The Campeonato Brasileiro.
Today, Coritiba is the synonymous of the Football History in the state of Paraná, with a big and faithful support crowd.
1990-1999: A long time with no titles. A new generation of fans comes on, making a most vibrating and passionate crowd. In 1999, the hiatus period ends with the Campeonato Paranaense trophy.
2000-present: Returns to hegemony being bi-campeão. A new Coxa generation appears, making a most vibrating and passionate support crowd. Wins a final match against Atlético, demoted to Série B and promoted again supported by the crowd.
