Coritiba is four-time state champion

Coritiba made history by winning a historical sequence of titles. The second four-time championship in the history of Coxa occurred 39 years after the first time, in the 1971-72-73 and 1974 period. A feat that confirms Alviverde dominance in a new golden era, as the decade of the 1970s is affectionately known, due to the run of titles and important achievements in the club’s history.

This rare feat supports the work undertaken at the club since 2011. A proposal of professional management pillared on the assembly of competitive teams, on the pitch, and maximum appreciation of the member group outside of the four lines of the playing field, providing the conditions for contracts like the recent ones that attest to the club's great phase since restructuring. “This is a milestone in the history of Coritiba, a conquest that will forever be remembered and that simply reinforces our commitment to continue forward, guiding this project that has proven so successful”, says the president of Coxa, Vilson Ribeiro de Andrade.

This new achievement in the state is especially important to Coritiba supporters, as besides being the leading team in Paraná year in and year out, this new sequence was attained over the club’s biggest rival, regionally. Since 2011, Coritiba has been celebrating its position in first place, with Atlético Paranaense close behind. “What is most important to us is being champions before anything else. This year Londrina had an excellent team, Operário did very well in the competition and J. Malucelli also put on a tough show, which wasn’t at all easy. And obviously, ending the competition beating the club's biggest rival makes it even better”, stated striker Gil, who has taken part in the achievements since 2011.

An achievement that not only enriches the history of the club, but also increases its value on a state front. Among the leading victorious runs in the state of Paraná, Coxa and Britânia have already won six consecutive times – the only six-time champions –, Paraná Clube was a five-time champion in the 90s and now Coxa has repeated an important feat with four championship titles.
